Thanksgiving ProclamationCont'd from page 3 “Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits and humbly to implore His protection and favor….[we] recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God….[a day] to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our service and humble thanks for His kind care and protection;…for the great degree of tranquility, union and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us. “And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplication to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions, to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our duties properly and punctually; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.” I think this Thanksgiving Day will find thousands more
Americans flocking |
to churches than ever before. For us, Thanksgiving falls during Ramadan, so we will have even more to be thankful for. Thanksgiving—it means so much more than turkey and football. It means giving thanks to Almighty God, turning in times of prosperity AND adversity to our Creator, as individuals, as communities, as a nation, as one world. And carrying this sense of grateful appreciation beyond one day, to make giving thanks to the One God part of every single day. And He gives you all kinds of things that you implore Him for. If you count GOD's blessings, you can never encompass them. Indeed, the human being is transgressing, unappreciative. [14:34] |
Sponsors/VolunteersWe are looking for Sponsors and/or Volunteers who will help us to place the Qurans in Public, University, Prison, or Hospital libraries. There is a high demand for the Quran translations in the libraries to learn more about Islam because of the tragic events that happened on September 11, 2001. Let us make an effort to spread the message of True Islam (Submission) to the people looking for information on Islam. SPONSORS, God willing, are to provide the funds to cover the expenses to put the Qurans in the libraries. Your donations are tax deductible. We can send you a receipt upon request. We will inform you the results of our efforts. VOLUNTEERS are needed to take the Qurans to the libraries in person and talk to the librarians about placing the Qurans in the library. God willing we will provide the Qurans to you, for free. Just write to us when you know of a library where you can place a Quran. It is our experience that mailing the Qurans to libraries does not accomplish much. Please get involved. This could be your chance to earn extra credit in the cause of God. You can write to ICS/Masjid Tucson, God bless you. |
